Does sugar type effect the growth of sugar crystals?
Hypothesis
I think granulated sugar will produce better sugar crystals than confectioner sugar. So yes, I think sugar type will effect the growth of sugar crystals.

Variables
Independent Variable:
Type of sugar.
Dependent Variable:
Growing sugar crystals.
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
Water Temperature, amount of water, and jar size.
Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation
General Plan
Boiling the water, adding sugar into the boiling water
Putting the water into the jar and repeat process.
Then record the data each day of the growth in sugar crystals for about a week.
On April 2nd I started growing sugar crystals. I will keep recording them each day for a few days to a maximum of 2 weeks. Each day I will take a picture of the growth of each. I stopped recording data on April 18th.
Background Research
The process of sugar crystallization was first done in the south Asia 30 A.D

Detailed Procedure
1. Get some string and tie it onto a pencil 2. Get 2 clear glass jars both the same size 3. Boil some water and at the same time pour sugar into the boiling water one teaspoon at a time creating a sugary solution 4. When you put a cup of sugar in the boiling water, pour the solution into a glass jar and put the string into the solution 5. Repeat with the other kind of sugar 6. Then everyday check on it and take notes on the growth 7. Keep recording the data for a few days to a week. 8. Everyday take picture of results.

Conclusion
My results were that granulated sugar produced better sugar crystals than confectioner sugar did. That means that type of sugar does effect the growth of sugar crystals. Also that granulated sugar created better sugar crystals.

Abstract
I determined which factors worked best in growing sugar crystals. My hypothesis was that granulated sugar would produce better sugar crystals than confectioner sugar. I added the sugars separately into boiling water. I repeated the process twice and recorded the data after each time. The results were similar to what I hypothesized. The results came out that granulated sugar developed better sugar crystals than confectioner sugar did. The sugar crystals that formed from granulated sugar were bigger than the sugar crystals formed from the confectioner sugar.
